We are thrilled to be joining our friends at Camberville Open Beit Midrash and others in a chevruta/study partner exploration of Maimonides' Hilchot De'ot/Laws of Personal Development.
Over the next eight weeks, our community of study pairs across Greater Boston will delve into the study of interpersonal relationships as we work our way through the entirety of this medieval classic, which addresses topics including loving your neighbor, repressing gossip, and supporting the marginalized. With accessible translations and centuries of commentary, Hilchot De'ot holds great depth for all who study it, no matter your background. Rabbi David will be offering a spiritual dimension to the study journey (details forthcoming).
To participate, you need to sign up, either with your own chevrutah or with a request to be matched. (Note: the deadline to request a match is Oct. 4 at 2 p.m.!)
The program kicks off with an opening dinner event on Oct. 9, at 7 p.m. (You’ll receive info once you sign up.)
Over the next eight weeks, you and your chevruta will together study a chunk (usually, one chapter) each week, in whatever manner best fits your learning style and level.
In addition, Open Beit Midrash will host an optional open study space/office hours each Tuesday night, where chevrotut have the option to do their learning or just stop by to ask questions.
The program will wrap up on Dec. 4, with a celebratory siyum/closing celebration and dinner to consider as a community all that we have learned and its relevance to our lives.
