Passover prep satsang with Sheila Katz

  • The Green Room 62 Bow Street Somerville, MA, 02143 United States (map)

Take a break from your Passover cooking and cleaning to join us for some internal preparation. If you’ve been joining us for the #40daystoliberate challenge, this will be a great (near) finale to our virtual time together. If you haven’t been sitting with us, this is a perfect time to start!

Satsang is Hindu-speak (Sanskrit) for a meditation tisch, which is Hasidic-speak (Yiddish) for sitting around in community and sharing some learning. We'll have basic instruction, a 30-ish minute sit, hear a teaching from Sheila, and have time for questions about that teaching and meditation practice in general.

Participation is by donation. Sheila is offering us this teaching free of charge, which allows us, in return, to practice generosity in our own free-will offerings.

We are so lucky to have Sheila Katz teaching us! She co-founded Nishmat Hayyim (Breath of Life) Jewish Meditation Collective at Temple Beth Zion in Brookline, MA. I so resonate with the description of her meditation practice, from her bio: "rooted in Jewish and Buddhist teachings, arises out of a drive to address the roots of suffering and take compassionate action." In addition to her meditation life, Sheila holds a PhD in Middle East History from Harvard and is the author of Connecting with the Enemy: a Century of Palestinian-Israeli Joint Nonviolence. Check out her biography here.
